Opening two Postdoctoral Positions in 2026

Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroscience – University of Michigan

Exciting Opportunity Begins in 2026

Join the Kim Lab at the renowned Kresge Hearing Research Institute (KHRI) and the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan, a world-class research institution consistently ranked among the top in biomedical sciences. We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to lead groundbreaking research in neurodevelopmental disorders and Alzheimer’s Disease. Our NIH- and Alzheimer’s Association-funded projects aim to uncover fundamental mechanisms of neuron-glia communicationsynaptic transmission, and neural circuit dynamics, with direct implications for understanding and treating neurological disorders.

Why Join Us?

  • Cutting-edge Research: Work on high-impact projects addressing critical questions in autism spectrum disorder and Alzheimer’s Disease.
  • Collaborative Environment: Be part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary team with access to state-of-the-art imaging and electrophysiology facilities.
  • Career Development: Opportunities to publish in top-tier journals, present at international conferences, and develop independent research directions.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Receive personalized mentorship to prepare for your next career stage in academia or industry.

Open Positions

1. Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Focus on synaptic and circuit-level mechanisms underlying autism spectrum disorder. Utilize advanced techniques such as in vivo imagingpatch-clamp electrophysiology, and live-cell imaging.

2. Alzheimer’s Disease

Investigate neuron-glia interactions and synaptic dysfunction in Alzheimer’s models. Contribute to manuscript preparationgrant writing, and mentorship of junior researchers.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Ph.D. in neuroscience, neurophysiology, or a related field
    • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
    • Ability to design and execute independent research
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with in vivo imaging/recording, patch-clamp, or live-cell imaging
    • Prior research experience in Alzheimer’s Disease
